Shard provides a range of interiors, building and technical services to a diverse range of industry and business sectors.
We are a young, ambitious and vibrant company with a passion for the built environment and the wider communities we serve and operate in.
We’re a little different from others; we offer both a consultancy service (via our Shard Consult business) and an interiors/build/technology contracting service, so we can join customers on their journey from project feasibility and inception, through to project build and completion and beyond.
Our Solution
We consider ourselves to be an SME Regional contractor and our aim is to bridge the gap between small, local builder and major Tier 1 contractor, making us ideally placed to deliver projects up from £50K to £5m.
Alongside Shard Projects we’ve also introduced a dedicated Building Engineering Services division called Merlin BES to deliver mission critical MEP/HVAC and Technical installation.

In the community
We like to be active in our local communities, we have been members of the Nottingham City Business Club since 2018 (one of the oldest business clubs outside of London, formed in 1924)) and we like to keep our finger on the pulse of local and international commerce, but our reach extends far greater than our Nottingham base, working with clients throughout the UK and Europe.

Our History
Our journey began in 2007 when we launched our consultancy business, then known as Red Box Associates. In 2008, we expanded into contracting with the formation of Redgate Building Services.
Redgate enjoyed early success, but in 2011 one of our largest clients entered administration, creating significant challenges that ultimately led to the company’s closure. It was a tough lesson and one that temporarily shifted our focus away from contracting and back towards consultancy.
We continued to grow our professional services offering and, in 2016, adopted the SHARD brand that remains at the heart of our business today.
Over the years, we were presented with numerous opportunities to return to fit-out and construction projects. While we remained focused on our roles as surveyors and project managers, our passion for project delivery never disappeared.
In 2025, we made the decision to return to construction delivery as a Main Contractor and Principal Contractor.
Today, we bring together nearly three decades of experience, combining professional consultancy expertise with hands-on project delivery. We are focused on delivering high-quality projects that exceed expectations, while operating with integrity, transparency, and professionalism in everything we do.
The challenges we faced in the past taught us invaluable lessons. Those lessons have shaped a stronger, leaner, and more resilient business, ensuring we deliver projects responsibly and build lasting relationships with our clients and partners.
Experience has taught us that success is built on trust, accountability, and doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching.
